1. Who this agreement is between
This agreement is between you, the parent or legal guardian who creates an account, and Sentium Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 16512683), with its registered office at Suite Ra01, 195–197 Wood Street, London E17 3NU, United Kingdom (“we”, “us”).
Only adults can create an account and accept these terms. Children use AlfieReading through the household you set up and supervise.
2. Your account
- You must be 18 or over and give an email address you can receive codes at.
- Keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens in your account.
- You can add up to six children to your household. Use a first name or nickname only.
- You can erase your household at any time from your account, as described in our privacy policy.
3. Free activities
The first four lessons and the first story in every level are free, with or without an account. We may change which activities are free, but we will not take away something you are paying for without telling you.
4. The subscription
- A subscription unlocks every lesson and story for every child in your household. It costs £1.99 a month. Sentium Ltd is not registered for VAT, so no VAT is added.
- Payments are taken by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.
- Your subscription starts when your first payment succeeds and renews automatically each month on the same date until you cancel. We take each monthly payment on the renewal date.
- Cancel at any time from Your household → Manage subscription. Cancelling stops future payments; you keep access until the end of the month you have already paid for.
- If a payment fails, we will try again over the following days and your children keep access for up to 7 days while we do. If it still fails, the subscription ends and the household returns to the free activities.
- If we ever change the price, we will tell you by email at least 30 days before it applies to you, and you can cancel before then.
5. Your right to cancel
UK law gives you 14 days to cancel a contract for digital content, and you keep that right here. If you change your mind within 14 days of a payment, email support@sentium.app and we will refund it in full, whether or not your household has used the activities. You can also cancel at any time from your account to stop future payments; access then lasts to the end of the month you have paid for.
Until 16 September 2026 we asked you to give up that right, as the law allows. We stopped asking. Anyone who subscribed under the old wording is covered by this one.
If something has gone wrong, for example you were charged by mistake or the service did not work, email support@sentium.app and we will put it right. Your statutory rights are not affected.
6. Using AlfieReading
You agree to:
- Set up the account yourself and supervise your children’s use of it.
- Use AlfieReading for your family’s own learning, not commercially.
- Not copy, extract or republish lessons, audio, stories or illustrations, and not use automated tools against our servers.
- Not try to get around the grown-up checks, the subscription, or our security.
We agree to:
- Provide AlfieReading with reasonable care and skill.
- Never show adverts to your children or sell your data.
- Keep your family’s data as our privacy policy describes.
7. Our content
The curriculum, lessons, stories, characters, illustrations and audio belong to us or our licensors. Your subscription gives your household a personal licence to use them in AlfieReading while your subscription or the free access lasts.
8. Availability and changes
We work to keep AlfieReading available and to improve it, which means lessons and features will change over time. We may occasionally need to pause the service for maintenance. AlfieReading supports children’s reading at home; it is not a replacement for school or for professional advice about learning difficulties.
9. Our responsibility to you
- We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill.
- We are not responsible for losses that were not foreseeable, or for business losses.
- Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited under UK law.
10. Ending this agreement
You can stop using AlfieReading and erase your household at any time. We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, telling you why unless the law or security prevents us. If we close AlfieReading altogether, we will give you reasonable notice and refund any payment for a period you will not receive.
11. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you can also bring a claim in the courts where you live. Please contact us first; most problems can be sorted out by email.
12. Changes to these terms
We will tell you by email at least 30 days before any material change. If you do not agree, you can cancel before it takes effect.
